Exercise Study

On March 25th we will begin our study on Exercise!  Children are in motion all of the time!  Moving their bodies allows children to release energy and/or stress.  It also helps build strong bodies and minds!  This study will be a blast for the children!  We will try new exercises, guest visitors will show us different types of exercises and learn about what are bodies need in order to move, exercise and stay healthy.  As we study exercise, we will focus on objectives in physical development, literacy, math, science, social studies, the arts and technology.

What You Can Do at Home to Foster Your Child's Learning

Do you have the following items that we may borrow in the classroom?

Exercise mats
Helmets/ Safety Equipment
Uniforms
Small climbing apparatus
Sports-related footwear (cleats, ballet slippers, cycling shoes)

Building Blocks

Big Ideas from this week:

shape composition-  children will be asked to think about what new shapes they can create by putting together smaller shapes.

shape properties (attributes)-  How many sides does a triangle have?  Does a circle have any angles?

shape parts-  Experiencing how shapes can be made by combining other shapes, or by building them with their main parts helps children learn about geometric ideas.

Objectives:

1a. Manages feelings

2b. Responds to emotional cues
